The design profession: people at the heart of processes
From the time the company was created, design has been an integral strategic focus for innovation and differentiation. Fifty years on, the Gautier design studio continues to create history with the brand based on its creations. The team has five creative members, each with their own outlook on the world, their own expertise, their own feelings. They all join together to share their visions with one goal: to rethink your interiors, your living spaces of today and tomorrow, so every day you spend in your home brings you pleasure.

«My passion is drawing. Getting your first ideas out on paper.
Giving substance to your imagination with a few pencil strokes. An initial sketch, then working in the details, and finally constructing a tangible project. And the furniture comes to life through the drawing.»«I always pictured my career as a designer dreaming up everyday objects for all.
And doing with with the main aim being to achieve beauty and refinement, while at the same time responding to function and use demands. So being able to express myself at GAUTIER gives me the satisfaction that my best creations will be available to you in stores. I really hope they will be ingenious improvements to your interiors !»«Design is synonymous with creativity and creation. It's also an art and a 'savoir-faire'.
But first and foremost, it is a process which takes on a rich and stimulating field of study through topics as diverse as analysing trends and consumers, sociology, market research, idea and concept research and also the knowledge of advances in technology, engineering, manufacturing, materials and forms... This profession is fascinating as it can touch on numerous topics, knowledge and constantly evolving skills.»«The diversity of collections developed by GAUTIER enriches my career.
Each project is an opportunity to discuss ideas and share knowledge in order to offer you designs which better suit your aspirations and your self.»«It is design's job to anticipate the service and allow the product to communicate its personality.
We arrive at this idea through aesthetics. The design's job is to give you the means to dream your own dream, to make you an active player.»
News Headlines: latest trends revealed in Milan
«The design world came together in Milan last April as it does every year. The 51st edition was the most popular design event with 340,000 visitors, professionals, aesthetics enthusiasts and students.
Recent uncertain economic times have had the result of provoking a return to sure investments and perennial aesthetics. A touch of wisdom has made a home. And the memory of more prosperous times have brought retro fashions back to life, both in rounded forms and in contrasting finishes of dark and light.
From August, you can discover all our newly-designed items in store.

From idea to prototype: setting the scene
Designing a collection is like a torch relay: it is the work of a team where each link is important.
Over 40 people are involved. Here is the workflow for a typical project :
Jérôme is the Marketing Product Manager.
He observes the evolving lifestyles, behaviours and expectations each individual may experience. He is in contact with salespeople in stores and also with clients who share their experiences. This means he can pass key information on to the design studio.Véronique is a designer.
She knows how to put herself in your shoes in order to translate your expectations into tangible answers. She designs furniture which responds to your expectations regarding function. She selects the finishes and strives to surprise you with clever little tricks. She has the ability, like all our designers, to harmonise the furniture collections and create a warm and comforting environment.Robert, in the development department, is in charge of designing all the manufacturing plans for your furniture. He studies their construction in minute detail to ensure they are robust, easy to use and that their manufacturing processes are concerned with our factory personnel's health.
Before anything is manufactured, Jacques creates prototypes so all the development players can add necessary modifications to achieve perfection.
Our five year guarantee is more than just a stamp. Damien and Stéphane take the prototypes and screen them to detect any problem you may encounter in using them or during your moves.
Furniture does not exist in a bubble, it interacts with your personality and Mijo carries this through by giving stores an environment which provides you with part of the dream and helps you imagine it in your own home.
So now you understand, the whole creation team works together to design and create furniture which suits you and is in step with your modern life and your personality.

to developing products for children ?
GAUTIER was the first worldwide manufacturer to launch itself into the world of children's bedrooms in the 60s. Even today, we are still looking to innovate and improve your children's everyday lives, and better adapt products to their lifestyles. This is why we joined the NOVA CHILD association which operates at the European level. It brings together a maximum amount of information, experience and professional expertise to help childhood players develop innovations which have a positive impact on children's wellbeing.
