We have been designing and manufacturing furniture since 1958, with 95% of production in France at our sites located in the Vendée region, which are all equipped with industrial tools that are at the forefront of technology.

This location and the collaborative work of our dedicated employees enable our collections to embody French furniture values: style, character and quality.

Because of our respect for these values for over 50 years we are now one of the European leaders in contemporary furniture.

Promoting local employment in the heart of the Vendée region
Gautier currently employs some 900 workers at its production sites located in the Vendée: Le Boupère, Chantonnay, and St Prouant. At a time when some businesses are choosing to relocate offshore, Gautier continues to insist on valuing people, respect and solidarity. This is how, for the past 50 years, we have maintained our know-how and passed it on from generation to generation.

Apart from our teams directly involved in production, we mainly work with French and European SMEs we have been collaborating with for decades. Some of our suppliers have been with us for over 40 years! We also work with partners who are situated much closer.

Within a 50km radius, for example, we have:
- Baudry based in Torfou which supply us with machine-cut wood pieces
- MATFA group in Mortagne sur Sèvre which supply our bed bases and mattresses
- or Baubry in Chavagnes en Paillers for our metalwork.
Finally, and still locally, we collaborate with two CATs (integration through employment centres) and we purchase products from four sheltered workshops. This is just one more way to maintain solidarity and preserve the economic fabric of our region.

French Wood Supply

To supply our subsidiary which manufactures our panels, we buy no less than 85,000 tonnes of wood per year ! All this wood comes from sources located less than 300km from our Chantonnay production site. The logs we buy come from maintenance felling in sustainably managed forests, never from clear felling.

Products made in France

At Gautier, 95% of our manufacturing is carried out in France. Whatever we can manufacture in our French factories we do (three manufacturing and logistics sites in the Vendée region: Le Boupère, Chantonnay, and Saint-Prouant).

Sometimes, however, we need to outsource certain elements, but this only occurs in situations where we cannot produce with our own machinery. If we use subcontractors, we are extremely vigilant about the manufacturing processes and materials used, and we have no hesitation in visiting sites to carry out numerous audits.

Finally, in over 90% of cases, the components we purchase to equip our furniture with come from suppliers located less than one day away by road.
