Quality

Quality
Since creating his company 50 years ago, Patrice Gautier has always emphasized the importance of the quality of his furniture and the checks carried out throughout the whole manufacturing process. This demanding standard continues today with Dominique Soulard, the current CEO at Gautier Furniture. Furthermore, this expertise has led us to obtain many certifications which highlight our mastery in this field.

A culture inherited from our knowledge of children's furniture
Gautier built its reputation with children's bedrooms. When it comes to our dear little angels, nothing can be left to chance. This is what drives us every day to carry out advanced tests and monitoring around safety.
Moreover, our products are designed in compliance with current French and European standards. For example, our junior bunk beds come with guard rails and non-slip steps.

Efforts Rewarded with several certifications
We were the first French furniture manufacturer to obtain the triple QSE certification (Quality, Safety and Environment):

- ISO 9001 certification since 1994 (for our quality approach management),
- ISO 14001 certification since 2006 (environment),
- OHSAS 18001 certification since 2007 (safety).
These certifications were issued by external organisations in order to guarantee complete objectivity. If you would like more technical details about any of these standards, please visit the International Organisation for Standardization’s official website.
In 2006, to complement these certifications, we produced a carbon footprint report in order to assess our greenhouse gas emissions and be able to minimise them. This study confirmed actions already in place, and allowed us to highlight new avenues to explore in order to minimise our environmental impact.

Controlling quality by manufacturing our own panels
Because we have a production unit in the Gautier France group, we manufacture our own particleboard.
This type of panel, made from wood, is first and foremost a natural and recyclable product. Its consistency, coating quality and stability when confronted with natural events (heat, humidity, etc.) ensure the solidity and longevity of your furniture. In particular, this quality allows you to disassemble and reassemble your furniture without any damage. A real advantage !
When combined with lacquered or varnished decorative paper, its qualities grow to include: a creativity which is always on-trend, consistent and durable colours, and resistance to daily wear.
All our panels are classed as E1 - the most restrictive according to the European standard EN 13986 with regards to formaldehyde content. Even though this standard imposes a limit of 8mg per 100g of panel, Gautier panels contain no more than 4mg per 100g. You may have heard the media talking about formaldehyde.
But did you know that this is a naturally occurring gas due to the natural decomposition of methane from vegetation debris and agriculture products? It is also used in numerous everyday products such as cleaning products, some medicine and cosmetics, traditional disinfectants used by doctors and veterinarians and more.
Do not worry if you detect an odour coming from your furniture. This is the same phenomenon which occurs with new cars. It will fade after airing the room for a few days.

Internal Quality Tests
Our panels, components and finished furniture pieces are tested in our laboratories following standardised protocols. Our products undergo rigorous tests and their smallest details are dissected to check and confirm their solidity, durability and performance.
The conformity of our laboratory and testing equipment, as well as the skills of our test technicians, are regularly monitored by an outside organisation: the FCBA (forest, cellulose, wood, furniture) technical institute.
Some of the tests we carry out examine :
- resistance to marks, scratches and abrasions,
- resistance to UV rays,
- resistance of metal parts over time,
- resistance tests for pulling and pushing,
- open/close tests for doors and drawers,
- load tests with weight,
- static and dynamic stress tests on bunk beds,
- etc.
Controlling quality
- Résistance panneau latéral
- Usure des tiroirs

For tests we cannot carry out internally, and for new designs, we call on authorised external laboratories.

Our Five Year Guarantee

Our products are guaranteed for five years. They are designed in line with French and European standards and can withstand being assembled and disassembled several times.
Our panels and furniture undergo numerous checks throughout the whole manufacturing process.
«Even before a product goes into production, and beyond simply considering aesthetics and use, our design teams have two main concerns: the performance and the safety of the product. Next, we rigorously select our components and suppliers, and, along with the strong culture of quality instilled in our production teams, we are able to offer you furniture you can enjoy for many years. Finally, in listening to our customers we are committed to ongoing product and service improvements.
